I love doing things spontaneously like this, there is a definite sense of freedom. Many of my friends don’t understand it; they feel the need for everything to be planned down to the last detail.

@J.D. Meier: Yeah, that’s the way to do it! I find that leaving yourself the option of changing course mid-trip leads to some VERY interesting experiences.

I haven’t had the (dubious) pleasure of being stuck in the rain on a motorcycle trip as of yet, but I’m sure if I ever do, it will make a great story later

I’ll definitely have to check out the Roadkill Cafe the next time I’m in AZ. Strange thing, I actually had a Roadkill Cafe shirt (with the menu on the back) when I was a kid, and I didn’t even realize it was a real place.

It sounds like you travel my style. When I hop around the country on road trips, I mostly just have a map of a few hot spots to hit, like Key West or Louisiana or Arizona, and then make the rest up as I go, and change course as needed.

While I’m a fan of making things up as I go, I have hit some pretty dangerous scenarios. On one motorcycle trip for the day, it turned out I couldn’t find shelter for the night, and I don’t ever want that scenario again.

You could have complimented your perfect day with the perfect breakfast at the Roadkill Cafe on Rt 66, in Seligman, AZ.
